about

I LOVE YOU SO MUCH
I WORSHIP YOU
WITHOUT YOU
THE UNIVERSE IS NOTHING

THE EEL LADY STIRS
BLACK EYES SHINING
BLINDING LIGHT
GRINDING BONES INTO BREAD
A DISMAL ALCHEMY

SHE IS BEAUTIFUL
SHE IS SICK

SICKNESS IS CORRUPTING

THE LAMB IS IN THE POT
THE POT IS ON THE BOIL
I HAVE DONE SUCH AWFUL THINGS

THE DOOR IS BROKEN

IT WAS WRITTEN ON THE WALL
DIANE HAD A TWIN

SHE USED TO RUN THE GHOST TRAIN
CUT OFF HER FINGERS
BURIED THEM BY THE TRACKS

ALL THE PEOPLE IN THE TOWN
TEARS FALL ON BARREN GROUND
WHAT HAVE WE DONE
TO DESERVE THIS?

RECORDED AND ASSEMBLED IN THE BURSELM 2011 - 2021

"The reputation of Peter ‘Bunny’ Cropwell preceded him. I’d seen him at many gigs on my frequent visits north, usually sporting a Leeds FC shirt, folded arms, stern looks and quick exits. So I was puzzled to see him standing on a table some years later in Stoke shouting about Mariah Carey. I approached him but we failed to exchange anything meaningful that night (I did walk away with a nice badge though so not all bad).

A while later, I found myself at a revival night for an 80s torched nightclub, shoulder to shoulder, desperate to exchange money for shit beer. Bunny mistook me for someone else having no recollection of our previous meeting but we still exchanged numbers with an eye to making noise and investigating the local area in the future." DUKE

"I must have met Duke before. Although we lived in different towns we were both in entertainment, and knew many of the same people. But I’ve always been a very good drunk so if we did meet the memory did not stick.

The first time I do remember meeting Duke, I thought he was someone else. And the next day I recollected that he was someone else again.

Me and my wife had come upon some family money, a small amount but enough to see out a night. We started off at home with a good wallop and then caught a taxi to a lively, sticky place. Ended up at a nostalgia do for retired gothics. Expecting Sisters of Mercy and Discharge we were brought low by dim music in a space more suited to office parties and drab weddings.

I met Duke at the bar, mistaking him for someone else. He asked me what I was doing in his town and I told him that I had arrived one month previous to be married to a local woman.

What else was said, I do not know, other than we agreed to meet with the intention of making a noise of some sort and exchanged telephone numbers" BUNNY
